Atocha Cannon (1622)
Modeled after a cannon that was found on the shipwrecked Nuestra Señora de Atocha in 1622. In 1975 near Key West, Florida Mel Fisher and his crew found Five bronze cannons, In 1976 the cannon was given to the queen of Spain as she was co-celebrating the commemoration ceremonies of the twelfth centenary of the Independence of the United States of North America. The cannon now resides in the General Archive of the Indies museum in Seville, Spain
Bears on the 1st reinforce the royal arms of Spain with the name of "DON PHELIPE III REY DE HISPANIA" and "D IV° D MENDOZA / SV CAPITAN GL DE /LA ARTILLERIA / 1616".[2]
I created The cannon in Autodesk Maya, sculpted using Zbrush and baked/painted in Substance Designer/Painter. I created the alpha for the royal seal in Adobe Illustrator.
The seal looks better when you rotate the lights around.
