Temporal Stop And Go
The theme for this game jam was ‘Duality‘.
For this 48 hour game jam I decided to make a VR game that was inspired by the stasis effect in Breath of the wild. In this game you can stop time, hit a object multiple times to build up massive amounts of force with your sword and then release all the force in a certain direction.
At first I wanted the main point of the game to be the user defending a village against enemies in the air shooting projectiles at you but I took out the defending mechanics because it was a lot more fun to just shoot enemies out of the sky.
Late into development i realized that it was hard to aim in a very specific direction so i added the ability to aim with the controller after you hit a object with your sword
This new feature also allowed me to make a Volley Fire mechanic where I hit multiple objects with my sword, pause time, aim all my objects in a certain direction and then fire at what I am aiming at.
